Halloween Decor has come a long way since the early days of Halloween.  Stores all across the globe (including the Internet) are capitalizing on the day as if it were Christmas.

So what does that mean for us who want to explore a little bit of Halloween Home Decor?  It means OPTIONS!

Any big department store will show you that.  But lets take what the stores have in house – and visualize how these items will look in our homes…or outside of our homes.

The following photo’s are Halloween Decor images I have found around the net.  I have specifically chosen ones that present well to children – after all – you can have a million and one Halloween Decorating Ideas – but if they HORRIFY the kids that will be trick or treating at dusk – they won’t do anything but cause a negative reaction.  And no one wants that.  So below are some fantastic Halloween Decor Ideas you CAN use that will keep the kids excited and coming back for more each year.

Love the idea of turning the pumpkins into little monsters.  This is FANTASTIC!

Little ghosts are pretty cool too.  But look at this creative approach to Cinderalla’s Pumkin Carriage! Now that’s magical!

Candy Corn Sconces! Sooooo genius!   And corn husks beside that door make for a very Martha Stewart Halloween – I must say!

Certainly a little Halloween Masked Pumpkin and Tree Fun Never Hurt Anyone!

Thank you DigsDigs for sharing these!

There are many people every year that go on Halloween with handmade costumes and with ready made costumes being costlier with each passing year, it is quite obvious that the need for clever handmade Halloween costumes is there.

In the past, people who wanted to make their own costume would simply use a white sheet, cut two holes in it and then went out as a ghost.

It is a still good idea for people that love ghosts to wear such a costume but there are so many other things that could be done as well.

A vampire is an excellent example of a Halloween costume that can be made at home. All you need is a black cape, if you have one; or a black sheet to convert to a cape and then a tin of make-up in order to make the face pale enough that the person can indeed come across as a vampire. Another thing that you could possibly do in order to enhance the result is to get some lipstick or red crayon and smear some of it across the lips and teeth of the person dressing up as a vampire. This will create the illusion of the person having just had their dinner of blood and even without the tooth extensions there it is still a special costume to have.

pumpkin-maskMad scientist is another good example of a costume that can be entirely made at home. Many people have chemistry goggles in their homes now because of university children or their own work and therefore a combination of these safety goggles, dark circles under the eyes made with the help of make-up and a white coat it is quite possible to make somebody look like a mad scientist. If you get them to constantly open their eyes as wide as possible when they go out and then mess up their hair so that it looks as untidy as possible then there will be an added effect on the overall costume presentation.

Ghosts, vampires and mad scientists are just three costumes that people used to purchase at the store all the time when they went on Halloween journeys. Nevertheless, there are dozen of other well-known costumes that can be made at home (ghouls, goblins, witches and faeries) with a little creativity and elbow grease and in the process end up saving lots of money.

Ingenuity is the watchword for clever homemade Halloween costumes.

If you wish to find some Halloween crafts for your kids, there are a number of places that you can go. For starters, you can check out the internet. A number of websites today are dedicated to Halloween crafts for kids and you can get many different ideas from these sites as to how you and your children can have fun while decorating your home on Halloween. Here are few of the most favourite Halloween crafts that you can make with your kids.

Sparkling spiders are one of the most popular Halloween crafts among kids. You scatter these easy to make spiders around your house or hang them from the ceiling to decorate your table. First take a Styrofoam ball of about 4′. Use craft sponge to paint the ball dark purple. While the paint is still wet, sparingly sprinkle some white glitter. Stick googly eyes to it and use black pipe cleaners to make the legs on the sides. Bend the pipes so that it looks like the spider is standing on its own. This makes your very own sparkly spider.

You can use a simple cardboard egg carton for this next Halloween craft for kids. Take three successive egg cups attached to each other and cut them from the rest of the carton. Cut out the fronts of the two outside cups to simulate wings. If possible, paint the entire carton black and attach googly eyes with some white glue or draw a bat face. On top of the middle cup, punch a hole and tie a string around it with a knot at one end. You can hang this bat wherever you wish.

Making Halloween crafts for kids is not a difficult task at all although there are a few crafts that require an adult to supervise. If you have bushes around your house, this Halloween craft will ensure that all your neighbours will talk about your Halloween decorations. First, fold a plain white sheet into half. Stuff a few newspapers between the folds. Then, use black craft paint or a permanent marker to draw a funny or scary ghost face on top of the sheet. After it dries, cover the bush with it, pull it tightly from the back and attach with some clothespin to make your own garden ghost.

If you apply your imagination and creativity there is no end to the number of crafts you can make with your kids on Halloween. Ask your children to come up with their own crafts. Use candy corn to decorate a candle or tape pumpkin faces made from construction paper on your windows. There are endless possibilities. Even adults can have fun making kids Halloween crafts. So craft away with your children and become a child yourself.
